The weather keeps bringing joy to Andalusian religious brotherhoods and those enjoying their holidays in the region. The forecast for the second half of Holy Week indicates mostly clear or sunny skies across the region, "except for some intervals with mid- and high-level clouds on Maundy Thursday".
According to state meteorological agency Aemet, there will also be a significant rise in temperatures over the weekend, especially in places like Seville, where maximum temperatures will reach 31C.
The culprit behind this almost summery weather? A subtropical ridge is about to arrive in Spain, bringing a mass of milder air that will settle over Andalucía.
"The final stretch of Holy Week, between Saturday, 4 April, and Monday, 6 April, will be accompanied by clear skies and a rise in temperatures, with more than 25C in the south-west of mainland Spain," Aemet says.
Up to 20C of contrast with minimum temperatures
The heat will be particularly noticeable in the Andalusian regional capital (Seville), with a "striking" rise in maximum temperatures.
"The mass of warm air that will settle over Spain (...) will lead to temperatures more typical of early June between Easter Sunday and Monday," weather portal Meteored says.
According to the forecast, the rise will start from Wednesday, with temperatures between 27 and 30C in Seville. The warmest days will be Sunday and Monday, with 30-32C.
Meanwhile, "minimum temperatures will range between 10-14C," Meteored says. In the case of Seville, for example, Aemet forecasts minimum temperatures of 11C and 7-9C in places like Cordoba or Granada, which makes for a striking 20-degree difference between minimum and maximum values.
